Sports Tours International (STI), the specialist travel company, has snapped up Golfbreaks, a major global golf travel brand, in a deal supported by Gateley Legal.
The acquisition was said to mark a “significant strategic step” for the Fred Done backed STI as it continues to expand its presence in the premium golf travel market.
Golfbreaks, founded in 1998, is one of the world’s most recognised golf travel operators, offering curated golf packages across the UK and globally, serving both leisure golfers and major tournament travellers.
It also builds on STI’s continued investment in the golf travel sector following its acquisition of Golf Holidays Direct, completed last year – a transaction also supported by Gateley.
The Gateley Legal team advising on the transaction was led by partner and head of the corporate platform, Charles Glaskie, supported by corporate solicitor Harry Davies, corporate paralegal Tom Haycock and tax associate Rachel Palmer. Gateley’s advice on the financing of the transaction was led by partner Richard Sealy with support from solicitor Zaigham Jaffri and trainee solicitor Beth Stilborn.
Tim Przybysz, chief executive at Sports Tours International, said: “Gateley Legal have been a fantastic partner.
“Charles and his team delivered insightful commercial advice, were highly attentive to every detail, and showed remarkable commitment throughout. Their support was instrumental in achieving a smooth and successful outcome.”
Charles Glaskie added: “This transaction represents an important milestone for Sports Tours International, broadening their offering and strengthening their presence in the golf travel sector.
“Having worked with the team on an acquisition last year, we are proud to continue contributing to their growth journey and to see the business advance with such pace and ambition.”
Manchester-based Sports Tours International was founded in 1973.
